The company has installed a new food can line at its plant in Bila
Tserkva in the Ukraine that will provide increased capacity for the
Ukrainian and Moldovan markets.
In a statement, Ardagh said that the “state of the art” line would produce three-piece cans for the food and dairy industries.
The investment is the latest move in Ardagh’s growth plan in the metal sector, which began when it bought metal can multinational Impress in late 2010 for €1.7bn.
Since then, the business, which was previously a specialist in glass
packaging, has developed its metal packaging through a series of
acquisitions including Fi.Par and Boxal.
Ardagh Group sales director for metal food Europe Tim Clarke said: “We are delighted to be making this important investment.
“It shows our commitment to this exciting and challenging market, where we have been active for a number of years.
“Our aim is to grow the business in this region, and this is a significant step towards achieving our ambitions.”
